Hello there!
I really thought that would be called the JBL Charge 3 but apparently not. I guess JBL knows themselves this is not a huge upgrade, other than the speaker being water resistant this time round.

That is not to say that this is not reason enough to get it if you don't have a water resistant bluetooth speaker yet.
As expected from JBL, they make outstanding bluetooth speakers at reasonable prices. The size of this is slightly bigger than the Flip 2 but I very much love the extra battery life on this and of course the capability to use this as a powerbank as well. Its great to have a speaker with 6000mAh of power that can also be used as a powerbank and with 12 hours of battery life!
Off to the sound quality since its pretty much the same thing with the previous Charge 2, now with a new improved JBL logo and did I mention water resistance yet?
The first song I've tested on this is Brass Monkey by Beastie Boys. Since these boys here have a twin 7.5 watt driver on each side, I would be cursed to not drop the bass with them!
The reason why I chose this song was for the varying bass response instead of just a flat level of hard hitting bass. This track really brings out the performance of the bass on the Charge 2+, I pushed up the volume up high and they still did well. I doubt the Flip 3 would be able to handle such bass though.
Treble response seemed to have improve as well and this is possible also on the previous Charge 2 with their secret firmware update. At least JBL did something about it instead of not upgrading the Charge 2 firmware and pushing their customers to buy the new Charge 2+.
One thing to note though, if you have the first version of the JBL Charge 2, it received a firmware update and now the sound quality is closer to the JBL Charge 2+. Therefore, I would keep the money if I have the JBL Charge 2 instead of upgrading to the JBL Charge 2+.
Just think of the iPhone concept, they made a plus series after every single year where the aesthetics doesn't change much - its mostly the insides that is powered up.
Anyway, this is now available in most stores in Singapore for a price of $279 and I would recommend them if you like to bring your speakers to a pool party or if you are just really careless. It comes in these eight colors:
Volume wise, the JBL Charge 2+ performs very well for its form factor but if I'm purely looking into audio performance and bass depth, the Bose Soundlink Mini 2 is another model around the same price worth looking into.
